About Me
I’m an artist based in the heart of Derbyshire, working with printmaking, collage, photography, and assemblage.
My work explores the themes of vulnerability, resilience, and sustainability, with a strong focus on process. I love to experiment with different materials and techniques, often allowing my work to unfold organically, without a plan or end goal.
Found materials are an important part of my work. I love the process of seeking out and discovering items, each with its own history. Objects often seem to me to have a latent energy which is fascinating. I love to re-purpose items and by doing so, to highlight the beauty in overlooked details. This part of my practice also aligns with my increasing focus on sustainability and resourcefulness.
I'm also inspired by natural order and geometry, which bring a sense of structure to my pieces. I like to find balance (a Libran!) - for example combining raw, organic elements with linear elements or grids. I'm always trying to create art that feels honest, evocative and to allow for imperfection. As a recovering perfectionist, this is a challenge for me! My wish is to make pieces that resonate with people on an emotional level, yet are not too overt in their message, leaving space for reflection.
I hold a Bachelor of Fine Art from the National Art School in Sydney, where I majored in sculpture. This experience as a mature student, in particular instilling the importance of drawing and igniting a passion for art history, has deeply influenced my practice.
My work is held in private collections internationally and featured in the Qantas in-flight magazine - a career highlight so far! Recently I've been featured in the West Gallery Open Exhibition (2023) and the Derby Print Open (2024). I am currently a member of Green Door Printmaking Studios, where I am exploring photo-etching, linocut, and screen-printing as part of my broader practice.
